Our Capoeira Angola Kids Class takes place every Saturday from 10:30 am to 11:15 am and every Thursday from 5:30 pm to 6:15. The class is geared towards children of ages six to 12 years old.
In this class, we work with the children on establishing a solid movement base that gently introduces the basic movements of Capoeira Angola through games and playful interactions. With consistent participation, Capoeira Angola is a great way to improve mobility, strength, coordination and movement competency. In each class we practice the basic movements of Capoeira Angola and some basic acrobatic conditioning. We try to keep things fresh by changing the layout of the class from week to week. This means that class will feel similar from week to week when it comes to the overall theme, but often we change the way we carry out the training. Some weeks we emphasize games while in others utilize some props like chairs and benches. The idea is to get the children doing as much movement as possible during the time we have with them. We also introduce children to the musical aspect of Capoeira Angola by practicing with the instruments at the end of many classes.
Our approach to interaction with the children is based on positivity and mutual respect. We do not institute formal discipline like you may see in many other martial arts but we create an atmosphere where the children enjoy being engaged and respectful during class.

Please have your child wear long comfortable pants and a T-shirt (preferably group T-shirt available for purchase at class). Also, please make sure your child has flat sole shoes. Shirts need to be tucked into the pants. Your child will need white or khaki dress pants for special events.
